We decided to create Shore Excursion Review after we took a few cruises and experienced the Shore Excursions that the cruise lines offer. For a '4 hour' excursion, we would have to meet somewhere onboard ahead of time, then wait 15 to 30 minutes. After that we would be hearded off of the boat like cattle only to wait onshore again. Finally, our excursion would begin and invariably it was VERY crowded.

While we did enjoy the experience the shore excursion offered us, we thought that there must be some less crowded more convenient shore excursion options out there. We then decided to search the Internet for some shore excursions for our next cruise, rather than booking through the cruise line. At this point, we realized that the excursion operators we were trying to locate were relatively small companies and it was difficult to find out which ones were reputable. Through extensive searching, we were able to find a few posts on various cruise-related message boards that recommended some excursion operators at the ports we were going to visit. This process took quite some time, though. At that point, an idea was born!

What if there was a site where the excursion operators could list their excursions (by port) and people who had taken these excursions could post feedback (good and bad). This way, the excursion operators would be able to get the word out about their existence and their potential customers could read reviews before contacting them to make a reservation.
